Dog walker Queen's Park, Heywood
A dedicated and dog-friendly walking route has been created in Queen’s Park in Heywood.
The picturesque 1.25 mile route stretches from the entrance of the park to the boating lake.
A map at the entrance gate, and official Dog’s Trust route markers along the way, guide owners around.
Councillor Neil Emmott, the council’s cabinet member for housing and environment, said: “We are delighted to be the only local authority in the north west to be working alongside The Dog’s Trust and offer a dedicated walking route for dog walkers in one of our wonderful award winning Green Flag parks.
"We know that getting out and about has great health benefits and we want to encourage our residents to enjoy our green spaces and let dog owners know they are a welcome part of the community here at Queen’s Park.”
Queen’s Park is one of eight Green Flag parks in the borough.
