Head shave in memory of Charley Findlay raises over £3,000 for Eden Valley Hospice

Lucy John and Alice Morris have so far raised £3,300 for the Eden Valley Hospice by shaving their heads in memory of their friend, Charley Findlay.

Charley, 29, from Rochdale, died from an aggressive form of cancer on 12 June, just 10 days after her wedding.

Earlier this year, her close friends Lucy and Alice decided to shave their hair on what would have been Charley’s 30th birthday on Saturday 30 September.

The trio first met when they were 16, working as sailing instructors at Hollingworth Lake in 2004. In later years, Charley moved to Ullswater in Cumbria where she took up her dream job as a sailing development officer at the sailing school, where she also met the love of her life, Callum, whom she married on 2 June this year.

Alice and Lucy will be donating the funds raised to the Eden Valley Hospice, who helped care for Charley and plan a perfect wedding for her. Their hair will be made into wigs for children undergoing chemotherapy.

Eden Valley Hospice provides palliative care for people from North Cumbria with incurable or life limiting illnesses, enabling them and their carers to live life as fully and as independently as possible.
