Middleton Township matters

Date published: 02 October 2017

Members of the public raised issues during the open forum at Middleton Township meeting on Thursday (28 September).

Issues included college students smoking cannabis and obstructing pathways, and a matter about fencing and hedgerows in Langley.

A political issue raised was deemed not applicable to the Township’s matters.

The Township approved the recommendation to sell surplus land adjacent to 77 Spring Vale.

The site is approximately 0.006 hectares in size and is well-vegetated with some larger trees to the rear of the plot.

Rochdale Borough Council Tree and Woodland Development Officer has advised that none of the specimens are worthy of protection.

The site is surrounded by open space to the north, housing to the south and east and an electricity substation to the west.

The revenue budget update 2018/19 to 2020/2021 and saving programme 2018/19 to 2019/2020, discretionary fees and charges 2018/19, and capital programme 2018/19 to 2020/2021 were all considered.

A presentation on a future Compulsory Purchase Order programme was given by Strategic Housing’s Peter Maynard. Potential sites within the Township were discussed after the exclusion of press and public.
