Rochdale Town Hall and Touchstones museum and art gallery have been given the Visit England ‘Quality Assured Visitor Attraction’ accreditation.

Visit England was impressed with the Town Hall,  the Clock Tower Dining Room, naming it the highlight of their visit and commenting on its impressive dining experience, plus the Town Hall tours available to visitors, noting that they were well informed, interesting and highlighted key areas of the buildings heritage, particularly the hand painted walls.

Touchstones impressed with its engaging and enthusiastic staff, so much so that Touchstones has also been put forward by Visit England for consideration to receive a national accolade.

Councillor Janet Emsley, cabinet member for neighbourhoods, community and culture, said: “It is great that we are getting the recognition we deserve for the Town Hall and Touchstones, both are well worth a visit.

"To have Visit England give its stamp of approval to both is a fantastic reward for the hard work we have been putting in on keeping the Town Hall a building we are really proud of, and Touchstones a jewel in our crown. It is another great success story for Rochdale.”

The 145-year-old Town Hall building is widely regarded as one of the finest town halls in the country and besides council meetings is regularly used for TV and film locations, weddings, tours and other showcase events.

Touchstones osts a series of exhibitions and events, including world class art, museum exhibitions and fun family theatre.
