Three silver birch trees are to be planted at Drake Street's Wet Rake Gardens on Monday (2 October) after Mayor Ian Duckworth put in a request to lift the area for those travelling into the town centre via the Metrolink, and 'soften the background of shops'.
Ian Trickett, Greenspace Development and Countryside Manager, said: “We will be planting three silver Birch trees at Wet Rake Gardens on Monday (2 October) following a request by the Mayor, Ian Duckworth.
"This complements work previously undertaken by the council to install new footpaths and benches in the gardens, providing a really attractive entrance to this important gateway into Rochdale town centre.”
