Happy Jacks Nursery in Littleborough raised £329 towards fireman Alex Green’s return home by holding a ‘Green Day’ on Wednesday 20 September.

Alex, 26, from Littleborough, was severely injured just hours into his stag party whilst abroad in Magaluf on 15 September. He is understood to be recovering well, but remains in Mallorca with his family.

Staff at Happy Jacks asked all the children to wear shades of green on the day and also held a raffle and cupcake sales. On the day Alex’s son, Zach, and his friends painted a ‘Get well soon Daddy’ sign.

Zach’s keyperson at nursery, Beth, was the main organiser.

She said: “Alex is such a devoted dad that we felt it was only right to do a fundraiser to help bring him home and see him back with his beautiful family. The fundraiser was such a success and we want to thank everyone who contributed; it would not have been possible without the support of our parents, carers, staff, families and friends.”

A fundraiser launched shortly after Alex was taken to hospital has so far raised over £33,000 towards his hospital treatment and return home, as his travel insurance policy may not cover treatment costs due to Alex having alcohol in his system when he was injured.
