Maddison Barker-Gorse - 1st Heywood Crimble Croft Brownie of the Year

Winner of Brownie of the Year 2017 for 1st Heywood Crimble Croft Brownies was Maddison Barker-Gorse, age nine, she won a trophy and a special handmade brownie doll.

Maddison said: "It was surprising I won brownie of the year but I am proud I was chosen. I really like all the prizes I won, especially the handmade brownie doll, made by my Leaders Grandma and I'd like to thank her for making it. I think Brownies is really fun, with lots of games and craft activities. I enjoy myself every week"

Katie Haigh, Brownie Leader, said: "Maddison was chosen as our brownie of the year, for being an excellent role model and Sixer, who includes everyone in her six.

"She always attends our events and is always kind, helpful and caring.

"She always gives her best with any activities we do and is always the first to step up and help in any situation. Well done Maddison."

The Brownie of the Year Runner Up was awarded to Millie Buchan, aged 9.

After receiving her certificate and trophy, Millie said: "I am super happy and I really appreciated the nice comments about me. Thank you for the trophy"

Leader Katie Haigh said "Millie was chosen because she is a good role model, always looks out for the other brownies. She is kind and helpful and always will to tend a hand."
