Mental Health and Dementia Awareness Event
Mayor Ian Duckworth and Mayoress Christine Duckworth were guests of honour at a Mental Health & Dementia Awareness Event on Wednesday.
The aim of the event was to raise awareness of mental health and dementia; signpost local services and recruit participants on accredited courses and activities available at the Centre of Wellbeing, Training & Culture (CWTC).
The Mayor and Mayoress presented certificates to participants who had taken the Supporting Carers level two course.
Mohammed Sarwar delivered a dementia friends session.
There was live music and henna painting, along with light refreshments.
Mayor Duckworth said: “I did not know all the facts about dementia and it has made me rethink my attitude to dementia and how its treated. I am also grateful to all the volunteers who are doing an excellent job here.”
Mr Sarwar said: “Tthe events and services we provide here help communities and individuals to find out more about how they can manage themselves and use the services effectively.”
