Fundraiser launched after Dean Rothwell dies

Date published: 08 September 2017

A fundraiser has been launched for Dean Rothwell, a regular at the Rochdale soup kitchen, who suddenly died in his sleep aged 38 on Friday 1 September.

Mohammed Sheraz, who helps run the soup kitchen, has been working alongside Dean’s family to support them.

He said: “Dean had been attending the soup kitchen for the last six months and had become a regular face and always having a laugh and joke with volunteers and helping to serve. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

“Dean was a son, father, brother, uncle and nephew. His sudden death has left a massive void to the ones he loved and cherished. His mum, Sharon, and stepdad, Frank, are absolutely devastated at this huge loss.

“Alongside his brothers and sisters, family and friends we, as friends of Dean, are organising to help with the costs of funeral, and also to support his partner, who is expecting Dean’s child in January 2018.

“Dean will have left an impression on all the people he met, his charisma and charm were  admired and will remain with us forever.

"Let us help and raise funds for the family during their darkest hour.

“We hope you can kindly support this cause and thank you for your kind donation.”

Dean's funeral to be arranged.
