Emotional appeal to raise £6,000 for children of 25-year-old Claire Louise Brierley who died suddenly

Date published: 29 August 2017

An emotional appeal has been launched after Claire Louise Brierley, a 25-year-old single mother of three, died on Friday 25 August after a long and serious illness.

Claire, who had battled pulmonary hypertension for over a year, was surrounded by her family when she died at her home in Rochdale. A former pupil at Matthew Moss High School, she leaves behind three young sons aged between eight months and six years old; Oliver-William, Oscar-Jay and Jacob-James.

Following her unexpected death, her friends are aiming to raise around £6,000 to provide a future for the three young children, with a number of fundraising events to follow.

Former partner and close family friend, Ronnie Scott, who has launched one of the fundraisers, said: “She was amazing. She was always putting other people before herself even when she was poorly in hospital. She was just your average 25-year-old girl who loved going out and letting her hair down, but spent all of her time with her three children, forever buying them new things and giving them the best in everything.”

A second fundraiser has also been launched by a close friend of the family, Caroline Sullivan.

She said: “Claire demonstrated strength, bravery and courage that many will never know. Her love for her boys shone through even in her toughest times; they are what she was fighting for. She fought every day and her boys were her strength; they will always know their mum through the memories and love of their family.

“Claire will never be forgotten, she shone with a light that could not be ignored and that light will continue to shine in the hearts of her family, her friends and all that were blessed to have known her.”

Claire's funeral is to be arranged.
