A film showcase and an exhibition of arts from Pakistan was presented to parents, carers and councilors at Centre of Wellbeing Training & Culture (CWTC).

The project involved working with artists to support people with mental health and learning disability groups from all backgrounds engaging with arts and crafts, music and filming sessions at CWTC Wellbeing Café to learn new skills and reduce social isolation.

Pauline Duffy, manager at Rochdale Gateway Leisure, said: “The participants achieved so much self-esteem and enjoyed taking part in arts sessions here. You can see how much difference it had made to their wellbeing. I hope they can continue.”

The event was attended by parents, councilors Janet Emsley, Daalat Ali, Surrender Biant, Cecile Biant, Allen Brett, Mohammed Zaman and Lauren White from the HMR CCG.

Mohammed Sarwar said: “It is important that everyone is treated equally, fairly and are valued in their contribution.

"The participants from Rochdale Gateway Leisure thoroughly enjoyed the arts and music sessions over the ten weeks period, resulting in a super 20 minutes film of their work.

"We are thankful to Rochdale Township, parents and councilors for their contribution towards the project.”

The CWTC Wellbeing Café is set up as a partnership initiative to support people living with physical or mental health challenges, equality of opportunity for people with disabilities, dementia, mental health and their carers.
