BRGS GCSE high achievers in Rochdale

Carl Ashworth, Hana Salman, Jessica Alldred, Ollie Bentley, Zainab Hammad, Anna Forbes and James Buckley, all students from Rochdale who attend Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School (BRGS), have achieved excellent GCSE results.

Head of Year 11 Paul Chambers is delighted with the BRGS GCSE High Achievers in Rochdale, he said: “Carl Ashworth is a delightful young man and has never been anything less than an outstanding student throughout his life at BRGS.

“He is a talented musician and performed with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and has recently been awarded a prestigious Arkwright Engineering Scholarship.

“Carl has also shown himself to be an extremely hard-working student with a mature outlook on life and is very well deserving of the success that he has achieved in his GCSE results, having gained 11 GCSEs including 7 A* and 2 outstanding 9s too.

“Carl has always been an absolute pleasure to teach and we look forward to him joining our sixth form in September.

“Hana Salman has always shown herself to be an extremely hard working and conscientious student with a mature and sensible outlook on life, always approachable and willing to contribute to school life.

“She has been determined to achieve academic success throughout her life at BRGS and gaining the highest grades in 11 subjects is a testament to the fact that she has been able to reach her goals.

“Hana has been a delight to teach and we look forward her continuing to be an active member of our school community when she returns to the sixth form in September.

“Jessica Alldred is greatly deserving of the success she has achieved in gaining the highest grades in 11 subjects.

“She is a student whose commitment has always driven herself to achieve her very best, uncomplainingly quietly persisting with all aspects of her studies.

“Jessica has never been anything less than a pleasure to teach and we look forward to her return to BRGS for her sixth form studies.

“Ollie Bentley has managed to balance an outstanding academic outlook with busy extra-curricular commitments by virtue of his excellent sporting prowess.

“Ollie has shown himself to be and extremely hard working and focused student whose mature manner and exemplary attitude have made him a pleasure to teach, and a student that can be trusted with great responsibility.

“Ollie is very well deserving of the success he has worked so hard to achieve by gaining the highest grades in 11 subjects, and we are looking forward to him continuing his studies in the BRGS sixth form in September.

“Zainab Hammad has gained 11 GCSEs with a stunning 7 A* and a top 9 grade too.

“Anna Forbes has gained 12 GCSEs withn exceptional 8 A*s as well as a top 9 grade.

“James Buckley has gained 11 GCSEs with 6 A*s and a top grade 9 too.”
