St Cuthbert's students praised for "outstanding" GCSE performance

St Cuthbert’s RC High School students are being praised by headteacher Dr Meehan for their "outstanding" GCSE performance.
Wictoria Gucia achieved two grade 9s in her English and Maths alongside five A* grades.
Nitin Babu and Lilin James achieved an 8 and a 9 in their English and Maths with five A* grades apiece.
Joseph Robinson and Oliwia Wesierska also achieved top grades in their English and Maths alongside a number of A* grades.
Joseph said: “I am going to Rochdale Sixth Form to do A Levels in Geography, Spanish and Biology. I’m keeping my options open because I don’t know what I want to do after my A Levels yet.”
A large number of other students also excelled achieving grade 9s in the newly introduced tougher GCSE Maths and English examinations.
Students who have made outstanding progress from their starting point at St Cuthbert’s and "achieved results to be proud of" include Nicola Janowska, Kanyon Dutton, Ella Smith, Kasandra Amanowska, David Atkinson, Stacey Openshaw and Madison Freeman.
Niamh Chapman said: “I am very pleased with my results, I have done better than I thought. I am going on to Oldham Sixth Form to study Sport. I got an A in PE so that should help.”
Nicola Janowska said: “I got everything I wanted." Nicola is going to Rochdale Sixth Form College to study Maths, Biology and Chemistry.”
David Atkinson said: “I am very happy with my results. I am still in shock. I am going to Rochdale Sixth Form to study English Language, English Literature and French A Levels”.
Kenyon Dutton said: “I have been panicking about coming in and I have passed everything. I am going to study Accounting at Hopwood Hall College.”
Caroline Akerele said: "I have done really well.” Caroline is going on to study Biology, Chemistry and Psychology at A Level.
Priscila Lopes: “I did better than I expected. I am going to Rochdale Sixth Form to study Biology, Chemistry and Maths.”
Madison Freeman said: Iam just overwhelmed, I have done better than I thought I would. I am going to study Performing Arts at Hopwood Hall College.”
Dr Meehan, headteacher at St Cuthbert’s RC High School, said: “We are extremely proud of our young people and their results.
"There are some outstanding performances that reflect the hard work and commitment of our wonderful students and the extremely committed and highly skilled staff of St Cuthbert’s.
"These results confirm that St Cuthbert’s is not only a good school, according to Ofsted, but that our school is continuing to improve, going from strength-to-strength."
