Date published: 10 August 2017

Two people have been arrested in connection with a number of robberies in Heywood.

An 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of burglary and robbery.

Both remain in custody for questioning.

Throughout July and August there has been a string of robberies and burglaries at properties in Heywood.

Following concerns raised during a community meeting on Tuesday 8 August 2017 and further information being passed on, police have today recovered a quantity of stolen items.

Inspector Andrew Fern, of GMP Heywood Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “The people of Heywood have been understandably concerned about this string of burglaries and we have acted on those concerns and taken positive action today.

“Our investigation into these incidents is continuing and I would urge anybody with information to please come forward.

“We take all reports and concerns from our resident seriously and run a variety of engagement events, which are advertised on social media. If you are interested in attending one of these events then please keep an eye on the GMP Heywood social media accounts.”

Anybody with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident number 1857 of 08/08/17, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
