Birch Community looking for volunteers to help redecorate

Date published: 09 August 2017

Birch Community group are looking for volunteers to help give the community house a fresh lick of paint.

Run by three volunteers at Green Meadow in Wardle, the non-profit group are hoping to give the building, which was two houses knocked into one, a makeover. Currently the centre is used by a children’s club, and activities such as boxercise.

Volunteer Yvonne Taylor explained: “Rochdale Mind want to use the building for their groups and we’re hoping to open a gym for anyone over the age of 18 to use on a ‘pay as you gym basis’ for a small fee.

“We are looking for help from any painters and decorators or anyone who would be willing to spare some time to help us re-paint the community house for the children and the local community. We would really appreciate the help as we don't always have the spare time ourselves with volunteering and our home life.

“Any help would be massively appreciated by us volunteers and the children.”

The group are also looking for donations, particularly from businesses, such as children’s supplies or any spare off-cuts of carpet or lino, and also hope to spruce up the garden for the children to enjoy: donations of plants and garden furniture, suitable for children, such as play houses, are also welcome.

If you would like to volunteer or donate towards Birch Community, email Yvonne at:
