Sudden and Brimrod Community Centre was trashed during the break in on Thursday.

Sudden and Brimrod Community Centre suffered a break in during the early hours of Thursday (3 August) morning, leaving the office trashed.

The burglar gained entry by smashing through an office window and also smashed an internal wall. Filing cabinets were broken into but nothing was taken. No valuables are left on the premises overnight.

Centre Manager Tasneem Shahzad said: “This community centre is a small one but is quite busy providing services for the local community. We are a charity and this is the third time we have been targeted in two years. It is the act of a despicable person to try to harm a centre that is doing its best to make a difference to the lives of local people.

“A slim male with a white or light-coloured hoody top, jeans and trainers was caught on our CCTV around 3am.

“If anyone knows who is responsible, please contact the police.”

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “We received a report at 9am on 3 August 2017 of a burglary at a community centre on Cheltenham Street in Rochdale that happened between 8.30pm on Wed 2 Aug 2017 and Thursday 3 Aug 2017 9am.

“Property was damaged, but nothing was stolen.”
