Billy's Barge in Castleton
Date published: 31 July 2017
As part of the volunteer-led Rochdale In Bloom's efforts to brighten up the town, a large canal barge-shaped planter has been constructed in Castleton.
The canal barge, constructed by P & S Landscapes, is planted up next to the canal bridge on Manchester Road.
The mural at the back of the photo was created by local graffiti artist Richard Rowbotham and students from Matthew Moss School.
Councillor Sheerin said: "This makes another wonderful feature for Castleton. It complements all the fabulous floral features on Castleton Railway Station, all planted up by local schoolchildren."
“Many thanks to Julianne Joyce from the C&RT who has helped make this possible.
“All of these projects were kindly sponsored by The Canals and Rivers Trust and Peoples Postcode Lottery.”
