Balderstone and Kirkholt is having a summer spruce-up

Date published: 31 July 2017

Local councillors Richard Farnell, Kathleen Nickson and Daniel Meredith have organised a free collection of bulky household items over the next three weeks. Normally the council charges for this service.

Large unwanted items such as settees, fridges and mattresses will be collected during the ‘bulky waste amnesty’.

Councillor Kathleen Nickson said: "Not everyone has transport to take big items to the recycling centre so this free amnesty is really welcome.

"We are working hard to keep Balderstone and Kirkholt clean and tide and this will also help cut down flytipping. We used our councillor funds last year for a similar collection and it was an outstanding success."

Anyone in Balderstone and Kirkholt area who has any bulky items they want to get rid of should book a collection at www.rochdale.gov.uk/bulkyamnesty or ring 01706 923665.
