Rochdale and District Mind’s ‘Young Advisor’ group has launched a website to appeal for funds to help them with the costs of holding the Diversity Prom on 2 September.
The group wants to bring people from all walks of life together to celebrate the end of the school year and the diversity in the Borough of Rochdale.
Greater Manchester Police has reported a spike in hate crime since the recent Manchester incident, the Young Advisor group decided that it is important to demonstrate that young people stand united against hate and are united in celebration of our differences.
The Diversity Prom will be a safe, judgment free and fun space for young people from all different backgrounds to express solidarity and unity, as well as giving an opportunity to celebrate the end of the school year.
The group was set up in late 2014 by Rochdale and District Mind with a main focus on young people playing a role in improving Mental Health services in the Rochdale Borough, since then the group has won five local and national awards for their contribution to improving mental health services on a local and national level, including working on National NHS guidance.
