Lower Falinge young people raise money to participate in It's A Knockout

Date published: 24 July 2017

Young people in Lower Falinge are raising money so they can enter It's A Knockout at Falinge Park on Sunday 13 August.

Andy Littlewood, chairman of Lower Falinge Activity Group, said: "The young people entered It's a Knockout last year and had a wonderful time.

"Three weeks ago, they came to me to see if they could enter again. Since then, they have been thinking of fund-raising ideas.

"As RBH was having its official opening of the new kick-pitch on the 22 July, they decided they would like to do bake a cake and sell these at the opening. For two days, they spent their time baking cakes, ready for the big day. They raised £55.21 at the event, through selling the cakes and going around with a donation bucket.

"They also decided they would do a sponsored walk around Broadfield Park, on Tuesday 1 August and are busy collecting sponsors from friends and family.

"I am very proud of the young people. They have set their sights on what is needed and are doing their best to achieve this. Their dedication shows that Lower Falinge is an area where people will work together to achieve a goal and is not what some sections of the media portray it to be."
