Fundraising festival raises funds for once in a lifetime trip
Date published: 21 July 2017
Redwood School in Rochdale attended the Bury College B-Fest which raised £3,000 which will go towards a residential trip for Foundation Studies students.
The students raised funds via paid entry and raffle fees, and Timeware UK Ltd, from Rochdale, donated £2,600.
The event offered a variety of interactive stalls and activities including archery and golf, face and body painting, yoga, food and drink, samba workshop and a small petting zoo.
Adam Grundy, New Horizons tutor and B-Fest organiser, said: "The plans for next year’s residential have to be based on the specialist needs of each student. With this thought in mind, Timeware offered to double their sponsorship to £2,600 helping a truly wonderful cause.
A spokesperson for Timeware said: “Timeware sponsored the New Horizons fundraiser last year to the tune of £1,300. This year we doubled our sponsorship to £2,600.”
All the money raised will fund a once in a lifetime residential trip for students studying the New Horizons course, many of who have profound learning difficulties and disabilities.
