Woman Falls From Bridge in Heywood

Police in Rochdale were called to Queens Park Bridge on Queens Park Road in Heywood on Monday 8 May 2006, following reports that a woman was on the wrong side of the barrier.
Officers arrived at the scene and the 21-year-old woman was seen to fall 40 feet from the bridge onto grassland below.
The woman, who is from the local area, was rescued by the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and the Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team. She suffered multiple fractures and was taken by air ambulance to Fairfield General Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
It is believed there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
