Woman in her 70s taken to hospital with severe injuries after collision on Bury New Road

A woman in her 70s has been taken to Salford Royal hospital after suffering serious injuries in a collision on Bury New Road in Heywood on Thursday morning (22 June).

The woman is understood to have been a pedestrian and was involved in a collision with a Peugeot 107 car.

North West Ambulance and Greater Manchester Police attended the scene with two rapid response units, two ambulances and an air ambulance, although she was transferred to hospital via road.

A spokesman for GMP said: “We were called at 10.25am to reports of a collision between a pedestrian in her 70s and a Peugeot 107. She has been taken to hospital with severe head and leg injuries.”

No arrests have been made at this stage.

The A58 Bury New Road is closed both ways at Whalley Road, Heywood due to the accident (11.00am Thursday 22 June).
