Rochdale residents to receive health survey

Date published: 31 March 2006

Nine thousand Rochdale residents have been randomly selected to receive a postal survey and Rochdale and Heywood and Middleton PCT's are hoping for a great response rate.

A spokewoman for the PCT's said:

"This is a vital step in encouraging health services to meet the needs of local patients through receiving some valuable feedback.

"We need to know how you feel about your health and how you think we can help you become healthier.

"Those local residents whose surveys are still lying on the door mat are urged to put pen to paper and tell us about their health and how the NHS can help them improve it.

"By completing the survey can influence how local NHS service will be provided in the future. The survey attempts to gain a true picture of the state of affairs in Rochdale with regard to people’s health by exploring the range of health behaviours and disabilities that exist across our communities."

All information submitted is dealt with in the strictest of confidence.

Even if residents have literacy problems or English is their second language they can still take part in the survey, by contacting a dedicated helpline.

Ian Buchanan, Public Health Specialist said:

"The Primary Care Trusts in Rochdale Borough want to ensure that local people receive the health services they need. To do this we need to know what residents feel about their health and the things which affect it.

"We are extremely hopeful that local people will complete a survey so we can act on their views.  This contribution is invaluable and really does result in service changes and improvements. The more people who respond the better.

"People should not be worried about being identified by the PCTs as all feedback is dealt with in the strictest of confidence.

"So I would urge people to use this opportunity and complete a survey if it comes through their door so that their experience and views can make a difference.

The survey will be taking place therough April and May and we’ll be publishing the results in Autumn this year."
