Local DJ Dave Sweetmore decides his heart belongs in Rochdale

Date published: 17 April 2017

Local DJ Dave Sweetmore has had a change of heart and decided not to move to the Lake District to start a career in hotel and bar management.

Sweetmore, who has also been Rochdale AFC's match day announcer for the past 17 years, decided his heart belonged in Rochdale and will resume his music career here.

He said: "Sometimes in life an opportunity arises which means making a big decision. It's one of life's challenges. Sometimes these opportunities work out for the best, sometimes they don't.

"My decision to move to the Lake District to start a career in hotel and bar management was a dream opportunity I was offered and accepted, but within a short space of time I realised I had made a mistake.

"The connections I have made within the Rochdale area were too strong a pull for me to be living away, and after what has been a huge learning curve in my life, I am very happy to be returning to the town.

"It's not until you try something new that you realise where your heart lies.

"I'm proud to be back in Rochdale and I look forward to resuming my music career."
