Date published: 03 April 2017

Adam Fern, 12, came home with two personal bests and his highest ever score at the national finals of the British Schools’ Modern Biathlon Championships at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre on 26 March.

The Rochdale Harriers Athletics Club and Aquabears swimming club member swam the 50m in 36.77 seconds and ran the 800m in 2 minutes 55.49 seconds. He scored a total of 2,096, his highest ever.

Adam, who is an active scout and also enjoys judo, is looking forward to competing in triathlons later this year.

He will be swimming 5km for a ‘swimathon’ on Saturday 8 April to raise money for Marie Curie cancer care.
