Support is in place to help those people across Rochdale Borough who want to quit smoking on 8 March, National No Smoking day 2006.
No Smoking Day expects to inspire over a million people nationwide to try and stop smoking and Rochdale Primary Care Trust are here to support those who have had difficulties in the past.
Smokers are using No Smoking Day more than ever as their day to stop for good.There are currently an estimated 11 million ex-smokers in the UK, many of whom have stopped with thanks to the campaign.
Last year over a quarter of a million people managed to kick the habit by using their local NHS Stop Smoking Service.
Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton’s local Stop Smoking Team, Task, will be on hand to offer support and advice on stopping smoking in the following locations on dates leading up to No Smoking Day:
- 7 March - Early Bird Stand, Rochdale Market 9.00pm-2.00pm
- No Smoking Day – The Baum, Toad Lane, Rochdale
- No Smoking Day – Morrison Supermarket, Heywood
- No Smoking Day – BACP, 108 Ramsay Street, Rochdale 12pm-4pm
- No Smoking Day – The Strand, Kirkholt
- 9 March – Smoke Free Rochdale Awards, Rochdale Town Hall (Invite Only)
People visiting these events will leave armed with information leaflets highlighting the many sources of help and methods of kicking the habit.
Rochdale PCT offers free counselling and support from professionally trained advisors to smokers wanting to quit through either group or one-to-one sessions.
Advisors will stress to Rochdale smokers the health and other benefits to be gained from quitting smoking and will even take your carbon monoxide readings to establish if you are in as good shape as you think.
