Serious injury Road Traffic Collision - Heywood

Police are appealing for information after a road traffic collision in Heywood last night, Wednesday 22 February 2006, in which four people were injured.

At approximately 11.45pm a silver Toyota Yaris was travelling southbound on Manchester Road towards Bowlee when it crossed over onto the opposite carriageway and was in collision with a blue Toyota Corolla travelling northbound.

A 23-year-old man, believed to be the driver of the Yaris, suffered a serious head injury. Two other men, both aged 21, were travelling in the Yaris at the time of the collision. One of the men sustained broken legs; the other was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

An 84-year-old man, believed to be the driver of the Toyota Corolla, suffered broken ribs and bruising.

All four men were taken to Fairfield Hospital for treatment. One of the 21-year-old men has now been discharged. None of the victims' injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
