Conservatives propose scrapping council assistant portfolio holders posts
Date published: 27 February 2017
Conservative leader Ashley Dearnley
The local Conservative party will propose reducing the number of council portfolio holders and scrapping the posts of assistant portfolio holders at Wednesday's annual budget meeting.
They are also targeting councillors' teas, saying they should be paid for out of councillors' allowances, and the withdrawal of funding provided to trades unions.
Reducing the number of pot holes on local roads is another priority, at a cost of £1million - the Conservatives suggest this should be funded from council reserves.
