Diabetes brought to the stage

‘All Shook Up’ is a modern take on life as a patient coming to terms with having diabetes.

Frank, a 45-year-old lorry driver by day, Elvis impersonator by night brings the reality of living with a long term condition to the stage in a one act play.

The revolutionary production which has been funded by the Department of Health is designed to raise public awareness of type 2 diabetes, encourage testing and will allow health professionals to give information on prevention and on managing the disease.

Monday 13 February 
1.30 pm - Middleton Civic Hall
7.00 pm - Trinity Methodist Church Hall, Heywood

Tuesday 14 February 
1.30 pm - Deeplish Community Centre
7.00 pm - St Andrews Church Hall, Rochdale

Following each performance audience members will have an opportunity to question the characters.

Health professionals will be on hand to provide information on diabetes and discuss issues and concerns with the members of the audience.

Following the national pilot tour, diabetes professionals will send their comprehensive report to the Department of Health to inform the foundations for a future diabetes strategy.

Janet Mason said; “This is an exciting opportunity for us to look at different ways of sharing information about diabetes and its effect on those people who live with the condition on a daily basis”.
