Stop Smoking Service

Date published: 26 November 2007

Members of Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Primary Care Trust’s Stop Smoking Service are to hold a special information stand in the Rochdale Exchange Centre on Monday 3 December 2007.

The purpose of the stand is to help raise awareness of the facilities offered by the PCT’s Stop Smoking Service. The stand is aimed at improving access to Stop Smoking Services in the Borough.

The stand will be located opposite the entrance to the indoor market and trained advisors from the PCT will be on hand throughout the day to offer support and advice on how to give up smoking.

Information will be available about pledging to keep homes smoke free to protect children from second-hand smoke.

Ingrid Corcos of the T.A.S.K Stop Smoking Service, said: “People who get support to stop smoking are 4 times more likely to succeed than those who use willpower alone. Most people already know about the harmful effects of smoking but not everybody is aware of the services available to help them quit. By holding these special information stands, anybody can approach us and receive free help, advice and support on how to stop smoking.”

For advice on how to stop smoking, call Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton Stop Smoking Service on 01706 708000 or speak to your GP or local pharmacy.
