Police pursuit and minor road traffic collision in Heywood

At approximately 11:30pm last night, Friday 2 December 2005, a police involvement minor injury road traffic collision occurred on Adelaide Street in Heywood.
A few minutes earlier, officers in a liveried police vehicle had attempted to stop the driver of a Ford Fiesta on Bridge Street. The driver of the car refused to stop and a short pursuit followed.
The driver of the Fiesta stopped his car on Adelaide Street. He then got out of the car and ran across the road, when he was in collision with the front of the police car.
He was taken to Fairfield Hospital, for treatment to a minor head injury, and was later released.
A 17-year-old man from Heywood has been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle. He remains in police custody for questioning.
