Busy night for firefighters

Firefighters in Greater Manchester attended over 350 incidents with 55 fire engines on bonfire night, Saturday 5 November, here are just a few of the incidents they attended in the borough of Rochdale.

So bonfire night 2016. What have we learned? 350 incidents. Some serious. Most avoidable. Some completely ridiculous. A few unbelievable...

10.04pm
We had 42 calls between 9pm and 10pm which now means we have topped 300 since 3pm. 

9.38pm
Between 3pm this afternoon and 7pm we've had 136 calls, so looks like it’s a busy one so far.

9.07pm
Busiest hour so far 72 calls between 8-9pm and 24 fire engines deployed across the county at one time. We have received 260 calls since 3pm!

No fire but a caller has just dialled 999 and played loud dance music down the phone to our emergency call operator.

Miall Street Rochdale close to Durham Street in Sandbrook Retail Park there is a car on fire.

Milkstone Road, Rochdale - bonfire near to the trees alongside the canal.

For info we have 55 fire engines on the run tonight to keep you safe - crewed by the best firefighters.

Update on bonfire night we have had a further 53 calls in the past hour (6pm til 7pm) and more than 130 since 3pm.

6.18pm
Cedar Avenue, Heywood. Unattended fire in a back garden. Heywood crews in attendance.

6.05pm
Just to recap we have had 52 incidents in the past hour including a number of large bonfires causing concern and are queuing some incidents.
