Elderly lady's handbag containing highly sentimental photographs stolen
Date published: 01 November 2016
An elderly lady in Middleton had her handbag, containing highly sentimental photographs, stolen by thieves on Tuesday (1 November) morning.
The lady was in her garden on Kirkway when one man used distraction tactics, asking if he could carry out work on her garden, whilst his accomplice entered her home and stole her handbag.
She has been left shaken and also extremely upset as the bag contained highly sentimental photographs.
Police are urging local residents to check their gardens or wheelie bins for the handbag.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “Please can local residents check their gardens or wheelie bins, as the bag may have been abandoned nearby. If located, call 101, quoting crime reference 206955S/16.
“Always keep your doors and windows locked, even when you are just outside your address to avoid becoming a victim of crime.”
