Fatal collision in Whitworth

A man died following a collision in Whitworth in the early hours of Tuesday morning (1 November).
A blue Renault Clio was travelling down a rural single track lane from the direction of Lobden Golf Club towards Whitworth at around 4.05am.
It is thought that the car has struck a wall causing fatal injuries to the driver, a 38-year-old man from Whitworth.
He was initially taken to Royal Oldham Hospital by ambulance but was pronounced dead soon after arrival.
The passenger, a 35-year-old woman also from Whitworth, also suffered suspected pelvic and rib injuries and is in a stable condition in Manchester Royal Infirmary. Her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
