Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 15 July 2016

The Citizens of the week for week ending 15 July 2016 are the whole school for their brilliant work in Maths Happiness Month. Already, Year 4 have been to donate toys to Oldham Hospital Children’s Ward.

Year 5/6 are going to visit an old people’s home to play games and treat them to a tea party and we’ve had donations to Water Aid, Rochdale Foodbank and the Salvation Army to date.

More to follow soon but a huge thank you to all for their entrepreneurial approach to spreading happiness in our community.

The children of Year 6 excelled themselves this week when they put on their production of “The Emperor’s New Clothes”. Children and families thoroughly enjoyed the show which was packed with song, dance and great humour. Well done Year 6.

On Monday, Miss Holden took a group of children to the IPLCN athletics event at Marland Hill. The children represented the school beautifully, as always.

Mr Nadin and the Hamer spellers put on a piece of professional development for the parents and the IPLCN schools on Thursday evening alongside our Governor, Saf Chaudry who also works as an ICT consultant. The event was a huge success and the children’s work and innovations in programming to create resources to improve spelling throughout our school has been highly praised. Well done Mr. Nadin and the Hamer Spellers!

Thank you to all parents who recently came in for parent meetings to collect reports. It was lovely to see all of your proud faces in school as you celebrated the success of your delightful children with the teacher.

Today, the children took part in a sponsored walk in the school grounds and this finished with a picnic lunch. The children all made bunting to tie in the event with a celebration for the Queen’s special 90th Birthday year. Some of the pictures are soon to be put on the British Values section of the website.

The Year 6 children will be receiving their Oscar Awards, designed for themselves, by the class. All year 6 families are welcome but due to space restrictions, a maximum of two seats per family will be available. Thank you.

There will be an extended celebration assembly on Friday so that the Year 6 can have a final presentation.

Well done to Mrs Casey’s class for best attendance for week ending 8 July 2016. Parents please support us by ensuring your children are on time and in school every day.

School closes for Summer on Friday 22 July at the normal finishing time and will re-open for children on Monday 5 September.
