Armed robbery in Littleborough

At approximately 10.50am on Thursday 29 September 2005, police in Rochdale received reports of an armed robbery on a security van at the BP Petrol Station on Church Street, Littleborough.
It is believed that while the van was making a delivery, two men got out of a van parked nearby and attacked security guards with a sledgehammer and a pickaxe handle.
The men stole several security boxes containing cash and left the scene in a BMW car.
The offenders are believed to have thrown cash boxes out of the car as it drove away from the scene.
There are no reports of any injuries. Enquiries are continuing.
