Lighthouse Project to bid farewell to Warwick Mill

Charity Manager Carl Roach says: 'Warwick Mill farewell and thank you'
Six years ago the Lighthouse Project first opened its doors to start serving the people of Middleton, and now 130,000 visits later it has finally come to the point where they have to vacate their Warwick Mill base following eviction by the building owners.
Charity Manager Carl Roach said: “Despite nine months of intense searching we have not been able to find an alternative town centre base, however we have managed to find a suitable temporary location on the Cromer Estate, Hilton Fold Lane, in Boarshaw, which gives us a few more months of running and a little more time to find an alternative to closure or breaking up our work.
"Middleton Central Foodbank and Middleton Dial, the disability aids charity, will also be moving with us and both will be continuing their work, so thankfully no services will be lost in the move.
“It is sad to be leaving the Warwick Mill, which we wanted to keep as our home, and we hope that the new owners don’t leave it as it is but turn it into the refurbished space they have proposed. We’d hate it if this didn’t happen and our move proved unnecessary, but on a positive note we will continue supporting our regular visitors from the new base as well as developing new projects and reaching new sections of the community.
"Friday 3 June will be the last day we will be open to the public in the Warwick Mill, and the following week the Lighthouse Project, Foodbank and Dial will be closed as we make the move to Hilton Fold Lane. We plan to re-open in our new base from Monday 13 June.
"We are still in need of help with transport for the move so if you know of anyone with a truck we could use to move our stuff, including the foodbank, please get in touch."
