Greater Manchester North Scout County organised and ran an event last Saturday at Ashworth Valley Scout Camp Heywood to celebrate a 100 years of Cub Scouting.

Over 600 young people and leaders enjoyed a fabulous day of crafts, adventure and sunshine.

A celebration picnic, camp fire, and many many activities were on site to keep the eight to 10-year-olds occupied for a good eight hours of continuous fun and enjoyment.

The Cub Packs were grouped into zones based on their Metropolitan Borough and given times to visit each area of activities throughout the day.

Cub Leaders who had helped Cub Scouting over many years of the past 100 years were invited as guests to share in the experience.

A spokesman said: "Everyone including leaders had a splendid time and I’m sure most of the young people fell asleep on their way home."
