Members of the New Life Community Church and councillors Andy Kelly and Irene Davidson were joined by local residents collecting 12 sacks of rubbish from the Edmund Street car park area.
Councillor Kelly said: "We had a great turn out and really cleaned up the car park and surrounding areas.
"I would like thank John Oldham from the New Life Community Church for getting in touch."
Councillor Irene Davidson said: "I've taken part in clean ups locally for 25 years and this was one of the most successful. The great weather certainly helped and the community really got stuck in."
