Beautiful flower beds soon to be on show around town

Date published: 16 May 2016

Horticulture students from Hopwood Hall College have been helping Rochdale Town Centre Management Committee to get ready for the RHS Britain in Bloom competition.

Rochdale Town Centre Management is striving to improve the visitor experience in the Town Centre and so linked up with horticulture tutor Anthony Saxon and his students.

Last week, they were hard at work outside United Carpets and Beds on Union Street, clearing and planting the distinctive flowerbeds outside the shop. Over the next few weeks, local residents will be able to admire flower beds, planters and hanging baskets across the town.

Mark Foxley, from Town Centre Management, said “We are delighted with our great partnership with Hopwood Hall College; the horticultural students have done a fantastic job and showed enthusiasm and commitment to the project.”

The RHS Britain in Bloom competition is being judged in July.
