A Tragic End to Street Crime Incident

A man from Heywood has died after being another victim in Heywoods violent street crime problem. 44 year old John Curran from Ayr Grove in Darnhill, was attacked at the Highlander Hotel on Sutherland Road in Heywood at approximately 10.25pm on Saturday 18 June, and police were called to the scene shortly after.
Mr Curran was taken to Fairfield Hospital with a head injury, but was later transferred to Royal Bolton Hospital, where his condition became worse, and he died on Monday 20 June.
Detectives who were investigating John's death arrested Simon Luke Hogan, also from Heywood, on suspicion of murder. Simon appeared at Rochdale Magistrates Court on Thursday 23 June 2005. He was remanded in custody to appear at crown court on 30 June 2005.
