Chaplaincy News
Pupils in the Den have been creating a colourful backdrop on the window behind Our Lady’s statue in the entrance to Caritas near the DEN.
They chose their designs and then used special window paints to transfer them onto plastic sheets. A steady hand was required.
Mrs Edgerton then helped to arrange the designs on the glass.
Please make sure you stop to admire their work when you are next passing Our Lady’s window.
St Cuthbert’s CAFOD
Members of St Cuthbert’s CAFOD (Catholic Agency For Overseas Development) Group recently took part in a schools’ conference at Our Lady and English Martyrs’ Parish Centre in Urmston.
The event was attended by Bishop John and many other schools from the Diocese.
Our pupils were involved in the readings and prayers as part of the opening celebration liturgy led by Fr David Featherstone and presented their art work called Make A Splash! inspired by CAFOD’s Lenten campaign to provide the developing world with clean water.
The group had collected the tops from bottles of water to turn into a large water droplet collage to remind us about how we are wasteful and how other countries are in need of clean drinking water.
There was time to meet pupils from other schools and share ideas and each school gave a short power point presentation about what they are doing in school to raise awareness about the work of CAFOD and their future plans.
Bishop John was very encouraging and shared lots of his personal experiences of visiting CAFOD projects throughout the developing world.
