Paige Murray, 13, whose mum died suddenly, is trying to raise money for a headstone so she has a place to “go and talk” to her in the cemetery.
Paige was grief-stricken when her mum Tashia Sparks died of a suspected heart attack last Monday (29 February) at her home in Whitworth, aged just 32.
Although her mum had always requested to be cremated, Paige said she would like a physical place where she can sit and be with her mum.
Tashia's sister Nikita has set up a fundraising page to try and help get the money together.
Close family friend Chloe Martin said: “It has been very difficult for her, she’s only 13. She told me that she really wants a place where she can visit her mum and sit and talk to her, which I can totally understand.
“I remember when we were talking years ago, Tashia said she always wanted to be cremated. We never thought in a million years that we would have to honour those wishes so soon. We are trying to get the money so that Paige can have that place to go, that place to grieve. They are so expensive.
“We’ve had a really strong response already, people have been very supportive and I would like to thank them for that.”
Plans for Tashia’s funeral are still being made.
