Cynthia Davis has brought her distinctive exhibition titled 'Rochdale Canal Today' to Gallery One at Touchstones Rochdale and invites the general public to the viewing this exhibition.
Rochdale Canal Today is a contemporary Exhibition of Photographic Images of present life on the canal, which starts with a scenic waterway journey from Sowerby Bridge to Castlefield.
This exhibition displays the various boats using the route, the role of the Lock Keeper, leisure activities on the water, historical sites and also displaying sites of special scientific interest.
Speaking of the Rochdale Canal Today exhibition, Cynthia said "having moved to Littleborough from the Cotswolds thirty-five years ago it was not until I purchased a digital camera, in the last two years that I become interested in Photography. Walking in the area brought me into contact with the canal and the idea of an exhibition on that subject. Last year I had a small exhibition at the Coach House in Littleborough, which inspired me to try for an exhibition at Touchstones."
Cynthia went on further to say " I hope the exhibition will provide an interesting snap shot of how the canal has evolved from the time of the industrial revolution to present day, highlighting the social and economic revival of the waterway".
Additionally, there will be heaps of hands-on activities for children of all ages. Information displayed within the exhibition will be informative, educational and at the same time it will be interesting and fun. Children will have the chance to see the different types of wildlife that live in and alongside the canal and test their knowledge on what they have seen.
Gallery One is dedicated to exhibitions by groups or individuals who live or work in the Borough of Rochdale. Proposals are selected by an independent panel and aim to reflect the wide range of creative talent and interests which exists in the area
