Police in Heywood are appealing for witnesses following reports of an armed robbery a supermarket on Bridge Street last night, Monday 14 February 2005.
Shortly after 7.30pm three men wearing balaclavas entered the supermarket and threatened staff with baseball bats and a weapon described as a two-foot long sword.
They stole a substantial quantity of cash and left the scene in a white Volvo V70 estate which is believed to have been stolen and had false number plates.
The van drove off in the direction of Pilsworth Road and is believed to have been heading towards the M60 motorway.
All three offenders were described as between 5'6 and 5'10 wearing black tops and jeans. One offender was described as wearing dark coloured tracksuit bottoms. Two of the men were of slim build and the third was of medium build.
