Crop of top GCSE grades at Matthew Moss

Students at Matthew Moss High School are celebrating after excelling in the new, tougher
English and Maths GCSEs.

Headteacher Mark Moorhouse said: “High ability students at Matthew Moss have consistently beaten national averages at Matthew Moss and it is marvellous to see our learners achieve the highest academic standard in the new tougher regime.

"It is a testament to the dedication and hard work of staff and students and the unfailing support of parents." 

Ruda Isamil achieved one grade 7, two grade 6s, two As and two Bs. Ruda will be going to Rochdale Sixth Form College for her A Levels.

Ammum Aamir was delighted with her five grade 4s, and four Cs. Ammum is going to Rochdale Sixth Form College.

Sania Irshad gained a grade 6, two grade 4s, two Bs, two Cs and a D. Sania is going to Rochdale Sixth Form College and wants to study psychology.

Jack Williams and Deck Wales both achieved Bs and Cs and will be going to Hopwood College into the uniform services and then into the police force.

Joe Wilson was delighted with his grade 9 and B results, he is going on to Hopwood College to study joinery.

Mr Moorhouse added: “We are very proud of our young people and wish them all the best as they move on to new challenges.

“Only 2% of pupils in England were expected to achieve the highest Grade 9, which exceeds the old A* grade, however 5% of Matthew Moss students achieved the new gold standard.”
