Winning balloon found in Norfolk

The winning balloon from The Friends of Carnegie Castleton Grand Balloon Race, released by Mick Paley c/o Woolworth's Club, was found an astonishing 130 miles away in Great Massingham in Norfolk on Saturday 13 August.

Mr Paley donated his prize back to the Friends of Carnegie Castleton.

The Grand Balloon Race released their balloons on Saturday 6 August. Three further balloons were recovered:

Location: Boston, Lincs PE22 9AL

Mr Andrew Huxley (Lawnswood)
Date found: 7 August
Location: Wrangle, Nr Boston Lincolnshire PE22 9EL.

Mr Father Christmas (c/o the Commercial Pub)
Date found: 7 August
Location: Oates Avenue, Rawmarsh, S625dh

The Friends of Carnegie Castleton staged a Grand Balloon race on Saturday 6 August to raise funds towards the setting up of a community facility in the Old Library.

Work is well underway to rescue the building and return it to its previous magnificent condition.

The public were allowed to have a look inside the library to observe its current condition.

A spokesperson for The Friends said: "We wish to thank sponsors Forget Me Not, Rochdale Online and all who donated prizes and helped on the day."
