Set up by Daniel Groves, Groves Lighting Supplies has been in business for around six months and Daniel is using the online department store to help promote his new business.

Daniel said: “We have only been in business for around six months so we are fairly new but this was a chance for me to advertise my business to the Rochdale borough and to get my name and brand out there a bit more.”

Daniel's interest in lighting started after he did the lighting for school productions. He then achieved his Electrical Qualifications and worked in local theatre before setting up his own business.

Having some limited experience with selling online, Daniel decided that the department store would be a better way for him to sell online due to the high level of traffic already visiting the Rochdale Online website.

He said: “We have our own website that has ecommerce facilities but I felt like people didn’t know that it was there. The department store is a good way to let people know who I was because people are already visiting the site.”

Groves Lighting Supplies is currently the only local retailer using the department store to sell lighting and Daniel believes that by shopping with a local retailer, the service offered will be much better than that of a national firm.

“I would tell people to shop with the Rochdale Online Department Store rather than shopping with national chains because you will get a better service from the store than you will with larger companies. The businesses signed up will take the time to
help you get what you need rather than wasting your time and not getting you anywhere,” said Daniel.

Daniel has a variety of products from budget lighting to high class decorative lighting online and is hoping to introduce an LED lighting range which is believed to give those using it up to 80% off of their electric bills.

Daniel added: “The store is easy to use and is self explanatory. It is easy to navigate and the products appear where you would expect them to appear. It’s a really well managed store and I’m definitely pleased I got involved. It is the best opportunity for the business.”
