Congratulations to the 2024 Rochdale Children’s University graduates

Date published: 26 July 2024

On Thursday 4 July, Altus Education Partnership was proud to host its first Rochdale Children’s University graduation. Along with parents, carers, school staff and guests, 250 children attended the ceremony.

The Children’s University (www.childrensuniversity.co.uk) is a free offer to all Rochdale primary schools, recognising and rewarding engagement in extra-curricular activity. Children who had completed 30 or more hours of activity during the school year were invited to attend the celebratory event at Rochdale Town Hall. Children and guests heard from Richard Ronksley, CEO of Altus Education Partnership and Sonjia Peers, CEO of Children’s University Trust before receiving their graduation certificates from their headteacher. We had lots of fun cheering and throwing caps and thanks to the generosity of local partners and activity providers all children received a special goody bag to take home.

Children from Bamford Academy, Broadfield Community Primary, Caldershaw Primary, Hamer Community Primary, Holy Family RC Primary, Marland Hill Community Primary and Redwood Secondary School attended with teachers and school staff.  It was lovely to see so many parents, family members and guests enjoying and supporting the event and we can’t wait to do it all again next year.

As a Rochdale based multi academy trust, Altus Education Partnership work hard to make a difference in the local community. Alongside the Children’s University we’ve recently launched REACH (www.rochdalereach.co.uk), a centralised, online hub showcasing the local enrichment offer for young people aged 11 years and above. We work with a diverse range of providers and partners to ensure young people have access to quality, local activities that support them to develop their skills, confidence and have fun.

If you’re a member of school staff or a local activity provider and would like to have a chat about how you can get involved with Children’s University and/or REACH we’d love to hear from you.
